This Formula 1 race is one of the most prestigious and challenging grand prix's in the world. The circuit has been called "an exceptional location of glamour and prestige." But it's also renowned for being difficult and dangerous, because of its tight corners, elevation changes, a tunnel and the fact that it's raced on the actual narrow streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine.
It has been on the same circuit since the first Monaco Grand Prix in 1929. It is actually thought that if it wasn't an existing Grand Prix, it would be banned for having such a dangerous circuit. Over time, 2 drivers have actually managed to crash into the harbour!
The Grand Prix epitomises all that is great about Monaco and Formula 1: the dare-devil antics of drivers in million £ cars, negotiating the glamorous streets of Monaco with skill and panache. Worth watching on TV, going to watch in person or, if you go to Monaco when it's not on, have fun driving round the circuit!
